PROJECT: WRITE CHINESE

At the end of BROTHERS, Ming teaches Patrick to write Chinese. The word “friend” in Chinese is “朋友” (péngyǒu).

You can use a marker or a calligraphy, watercolor or paintbrush.

STEP 1:
朋 (péng)

Generally, start writing characters from the top and move downwards.

STEP 2:

Add another line from left to right.

STEP 3:

When a character has both horizontal and vertical strokes, write the horizontal strokes before the vertical ones.

STEP 4:

If a character has outer and inner components, write the outer components first before moving to the inner ones.

STEP 5:

If a character has outer and inner components, write the outer components first before moving to the inner ones.

STEP 6:

Repeat steps 1-5

This is a Chinese character.

STEP 7:

友 (yǒu)

Start with the horizontal stroke at the top, moving from left to right.

STEP 8:

Then, write the vertical stroke on the right side, moving from top to bottom.

STEP 9:

After that, write the right slanting stroke from the top to the bottom left.

STEP 10:

Finally, complete the character with the short horizontal stroke at the bottom, moving from left to right.

These two Chinese characters mean FRIENDS “péngyǒu” in Chinese.

Now you can share this beautiful calligraphy with a friend to show them how much they mean to you!
