Yin loves connecting with young readers and writers! She offers virtual author presentations and workshops for schools, libraries, bookstores, and other venues. Her “Where Are You From?” presentations draw from her books COOLIES, BROTHERS, and DEAR SANTA, PLEASE COME TO THE 19TH FLOOR. These visits inspire students to create stories from their own lives, explore diverse cultures, practice tolerance, and discover Asian-American contributions to U.S. history. Yin also enjoys leading interactive writing workshops for kids of all ages. Your students can ask questions, join in projects, play games, and maybe even learn a little Chinese, all in real time!

What Do I Need to Set Up for a Virtual Visit?

Zoom, Google Meet, and Skype have worked beautifully, even from the Great Wall of China! To ensure everything runs smoothly, Yin will schedule a 30-minute test run between computers before the start time of the virtual visit. If your school can digitally project the conference onto a large screen, we can typically accommodate groups of up to 150 participants.

Please note that recording of the virtual session is not permitted. Yin does offer an annual license to replay sessions internally. Just let us know in advance if you would like to purchase a license.

Pricing and Payment:  Once you’re all set up and ready to go, you’ll need to purchase a virtual visit:

– $1000  for a single presentation

– $1,500 for two presentations on the same day

Each session is approximately 45 minutes long. Payment can be made through Venmo or PayPal at Yin’s Bookstore.
